And we are back. This blog is a bit late, but rather late than never.
SO on the 22 August 2019 we held a workshop at our University, where we had between 80 and 100 learners from 8 previously disadvantaged schools come for a workshop. The workshop started at 09h00 and ended at 16h00. From 09h00 till 12h50 we had a practical session, and from 13h300 to 16h00 we had four amazing speakers come talk to them.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who came to help us on the day. They were students from the University, and they ranged from Computer Science students and Postgrad Information Systems students, and members from UWC Unicef where there were law students, Bio students, and e-visual students. And a big thank you to Dr Mmaki Jantjies who is the clubs supervisor, Dr James Njenga who helped us with the first session, Professor Michelle Esau who supported and encouraged us to hold this workshop, and last but not least Professor Shaun Pather the Head of Department for Information Systems who took time out of his day to support us and talk to the learners. Without all of you (and the UWC Future Tech Club Leaders) this day would not have been a success.
