My name is Nicola Lumpp, and I was born in Wynberg and grew up in Durbanville. I grew up with 2 older brothers and a twin sister, and the 4 of us along with our father are from direct German descent, thus giving us dual citizenship.
What excites me most about the year is gaining more knowledge about the Information Systems industry, and how it fits in within the world of business, and also to broaden my understanding and knowledge about Research.
What I look forward to during my Future Tech Club year is to help others to understand what Information Systems is about and how it fits into the digital world, and how they are able to better their research skills, so that when they come to University they will be prepared.
I am Cassandra Ndinise, also known as Cass. I am originally from the Eastern Cape,
Mthatha, that is home. I graduated from the University of the Western Cape in my
Bachelor of Commerce majored in Information Systems and Management in 2017. I
further graduated in BCom Honours in Information Systems in 2018.
I draw motivation from environments that encourage learning and growth both
theoretically and practically. I am fascinated by business and technology intertwined,
creating agile solutions to problems. I love working in projects that make an impact
and difference to society as a whole, I believe that there is substantial knowledge
that one can gain from working with others “each one, teach one” philosophy.
I am Atoofah Gierdien. Green Hat thinker. Tech Enthusiast. Also, I'm an acorn. Just one acorn is capable of growing a thousand forests & it takes just one person to make a difference; imagine a world where everybody at least tried. I'm a committed lifelong learner & a thoroughbred UWC student, having graduated Summa Cum Laude in my undergraduate degree & Cum Laude in my first postgraduate degree at the university. I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree in Information Systems. More personally, I want to contribute towards greater change in our community, yielding results now or in the future, and running this tech club provides me with a platform to effect positive change at a grassroots level while simultaneously showcasing my skills & ideas. This tech club has immense potential to enrich ICT education in local communities & spark interest among bright young minds to pursue careers in STEM fields. As an end note, Whitney Houston passionately sang that "[Our] children are our future. Teach them well & let them lead the way.
